Five candidates are vying for the District 9 County Council seat
hoping to replace the incumbent Marilynn Bland.

Among the County Council races, Marilynn M. Bland (D-Dist. 9) of
Clinton, the most heavily opposed incumbent, has five opponents....
But the name of the game is confidence in District 9, which
represents the southern part of the county and is geographically the

another deadline-day surprise when he dropped his bid to challenge
U.S. Rep. Steny Hoyer (D-Dist. 5) to run against Maryland Senate

On Wednesday, July 5, Governor Robert L. Ehrlich, Jr. announced that
the Board of Public Works approved $239,530 in Program Open Space
funds for the purchase of 18.91 additional acres for the existing
1,434-acre Piscataway Stream Valley Park in Accokeek. The park is
located in southern Prince George's County and extends from the
Potomac River east to Route 301.
