The regular Brandywine-news is planned to go out every other week.
But since we just had an election and some of you may not have heard
all of the results, I've included the main stories from the Gazette
here with a link at the bottom along with a couple of announcements.
Johnson rides narrow win to second term
County Executive Jack B. Johnson fended off a spirited challenge
from former delegate Rushern Baker, winning re-election by a slim
margin of about four percentage points. more...

U.S. Rep. Albert Wynn's (D-Dist. 4) race for re-election was too
close to call at press time Wednesday, with challenger Donna Edwards
giving Wynn the toughest competition he has faced since taking office

First Tee program gets children interested in golf early
Students at the Golfzilla Driving Range on Brinkley Road hit golf
balls on the range. An instructor shows a teenage girl a better way
to swing the club so the ball goes farther. An 11-year old girl puts
the golf ball on the turf and hits it. She winces a little as she

The Brandywine North Keys Civic Association is having its annual
picnic this Sat. Call 301-372-1740 for more information. Their next
scheduled meeting is Wed., Sept. 20 7 PM at the Brandywine Elementary
School in the Media Center.
Baden Aquasco Citizens Association meets on the 3rd Wed. of odd
numbered months, which is also on Sept. 20, at 7:30 PM at the Baden

Mattaponi Basin Citizens Association is also meeting on Sept. 20 at 7
PM in the Furgang Hall of Cheltenham United Methodist Church to
discuss CB-75-2006 before the public hearing which is taking place on
