*Dear Ladies and Gentlemen,*
The SSE Riga & LMT Debate Society is happy to invite you to SSE Riga IV
2009, taking place on *11-12 December, 2009*. Run for the eleventh time, it
is the oldest and arguably the most prestigious debate competition in
Central and Eastern Europe.
We remain committed to delivering the three major elements that have enabled
SSE Riga IV to be a very highly regarded tournament for years.
The first one is superb judging quality. This year our adjudication pool
features Arvydas Ziobakas, Oxford IV 2008 quarterfinalist, as the CA and
Will Jones, the reigning world champion, as the DCA. They are joined by
Leela Koenig, the world’s best ESL speaker, Gavin Illsley, EUDC 2006
champion, as well as the most prominent SSE Riga Debate Society alumni
including Yuri Romanenkov, WUDC 2007 ESL finalist, Martins Vaivars, 3rd best
ESL speaker of EUDC 2009, and others.
The second one is crazy socials. Traditionally we guarantee an exciting pub
crawl in Riga Old Town on Friday as well as abundance of free alcohol during
the closing party on Saturday night.
Impeccable hospitality is the third element. We are happy to provide you
with hotel accommodation, delightful food, Riga city tours on Sunday, as
well as limitless helpfulness when picking you up from the airport, finding
crash if you decided to stay for some additional days or simply assisting in
any other matters.
The registration fee is *35 EUR per debater and 30 EUR per adjudicator*. For
