EDUCATION AND HUMANITIES COMMON ROOM EH 2.21
MURDOCH UNIVERSITY
'Transportation Demand Management: Can we break the car habit?'
by
Randy Salzman
TDM consultant from Charlottesville, Virginia, writer, biker and former
Professor of Journalism.
Transportation Demand Management (TDM) is the soft side of transport,
the least tried because the profession is dominated by engineers who
like to build things. Perth is known worldwide for TravelSmart as this
is one of the few urban experiments in TDM. What is needed to make a
comprehensive approach to TDM that can help us to kick the car habit?
This seminar will present the results from a global survey and the
outline of a new more comprehensive approach.
