Martin,Geoff and others, the glossies are still coming to the "Yabby
Ponds" they are (at the moment)seen to flight Northwards along the power
lines from Mt Ainslie where they feed on the western promentary
overlooking the saddle, last week an indeterminate number were just to
the north of the big quarry on Ainslie. There are a pair separate and
distinct found on the Northern ridge from the top reservoir, usually
where the track meets the pines. They are the semi resident usually three
that have been generally around for many years.Martin the western face
of Majura was the stronghold of a sporadic group until the small but
reliable waterhole midway along the western boundary of the pines, sprang
a leak,I have never seen them at the large waterhole in the forest
roughly opposite the Police driving school,I think one would have to be
an optomist to look for the quail, two or three were ocasionally to be
seen in the area spring or autumn moving thru?one did turn up and some
reliable person noted it early last spring close to the small steel
bridge on Majuras eastern face, maybe some more erudite observor could
elucidate.Phillip I envy your YTBC obs, they are rather desultory round
here,I think these observations are coming to a stage where the
assembling of the sightings on this service could be attempted and maybe
rationalised, are the old sightings on this and other topics going to be
saved when COG1 moves? In 50 years time people will be doing theses on
lesser topics as our wild life dissapears!
kindest regards - Terry Gourlay
