I look at it this way, the sail maker needs to buy your material now to
start building them over the winter, he has a payroll to make through the
winter for those guys building your sail and has to pay bills, the margins
on sails, especially T-10sails are low (in the low 20%) I assume because
you buy early you get the best price too.
I just bought baby furniture and had to put down 50%, pay in full when it
got delivered even though I won't use it for another 2 months.
Not that I have any ties to any sail maker, but running a small business I
know the importance of cash flow, especially in times like this when banks
are not making cash available for small businesses.
Do you really want to stick it to the guys who help support your sport?
Just my 2 cents as a small businessman.
