No, I am not loyal to the cluetrain brand.
Can you also say I am loyal to the Brand Vonnegut? I don't think Kurt would like that.
Can you also say I am loyal to the Brand Shakespeare, or Brand Chopin?
Why does everything in this world have to be 'Branded'?
This Brand thing is a way of labelling the world throught which you move. It's like putting
colored strings on tree branches as you walk through the forest. You are putting them there so you
can find your way around, so you are not lost, they are a sing of familiarity in an unfamiliar
place. But there is a big difference - my colored strings in the forest are just there so I can
glance at them from time to time, while exploring the forest, to make sure I am not lost. while
The Brand thing you guys talk about is like me having some emotional attachment to each string and
each color. As if I am supposed to relate emotionally to the colored strings and get my value for
life from them by observing their flapping in the wind and the reflection of light they give, and
asking other people what they think about the strings and if they are tied well enought and what
do they think of the color. Should the colors be more vibrant? What kind of intangible values can
we get if we put two colored strings together, and let's celebrate the Brand of the Colored
Strings, and so on....all the while forgetting while we are the in the forest in the first place.
We stopped looking and exploring and started labelling and identifiying and writing answers to the
mysteries of life and the beauty of the forest so those after us don't have to experience the
forest. They can get the branded answers. 'Don't worry' - they say, 'We branded the forest for
you'
Here is something from Plato,
"We would be better and braver if we engage and enquire than if we indulge in the idle fancy that
we already know"

Markets are spoken into existence.
They don't come from something that's already

There is nothing there and then there is a market

The market is given birth to by the conversations
