An LA Times article (linked from Slashdot, but it's worth pointing out
anyways) that talks about how business is going to stop all of this crazy
Internet shit and do it right.


It makes me laugh and kind of sad, in a way.

Nobody has managed to build a long term sustained private propriatary
network that is still alive. AOL is the closest, but they are vastly
different now than they were at their inception.

Big Business: "Well, we've decided that since nobody else has managed to
even do this on a small scale, we're going to take on the biggest network of
anything, ever. I'm sure it will work out."

No man is an island, but apparantly some businesses think they are....
