Is blogging more than time?

Time appears to me (no that isn't exactly right cause I stopped having
visions a few years ago)...Time seems to be the only thing that
distinguishes blogs from homepages (by this I mean the old kind of
personal homepages where people posted pictures of themselves and their
friends and family along with shots from vacations). Aside from regular
time stamps for each day, rather than the "This site last updated
mm/dd/yy..." tagline typical of many personal homepages, what makes
blogging different? Is it the cute calendars that let you jump from
daily thoughts to daily thoughts? Is that the inside joke about
Heidegger that Rageboy wants us to get?
Okay, so people write in weblogs on a regular, or not so regular, basis.
Am I missing something here? Wouldn't be the first time. I sure hope so
because all this brouhaha about a time sequenced homepage format just
looks silly unless I am missing the point. So, I ask those bloggers who
may read this, what makes blogging different from just maintaining a
time sequenced homepage?
