Jean, that's horrifying that Botello is still speeding. Considering that
he was going the same direction as Jake, who was probably doing 6-8 MPH
uphill at the time, & his shoes, helmet & backpack were knocked off, &
his mountain bike broken in two pieces, the driver had to be speeding way
above the 35 MPH limit there.

As far as I know, the police report hasn't been finished, & charges won't
be brought until after that. The turnout of several hundred people at
the ceremony for Jake last Sunday was very touching -- & an indication of
the importance that our community attaches to this tragic loss.

By chance during my calling, I ended up speaking to the neighbor of the
driver who killed Jake Boysel. (She was shown on tv talking about his
excessive speeding.) The neighbor said that the driver who killed Jake is
still driving recklessly as of tonight!!! She estimated that he was
driving 30-40 mph in the trailer park where they live.

Has anyone heard whether charges will be filed against the driver? I
believe that it is unlawful to drive at an unsafe speed. Clearly, since he
was unable to see, 40 mph was an unsafe speed.
