Phone bank adventures (4) : Republicans!

Hello,
After three tours of duty at the Measure D phone bank, I am quite
comfortable talking to Republicans. I understand that the list we are
working from is a group of moderate swing voters that responds well to our
arguments. It includes some Democrats, some Independents, and some
Republicans. For some reason, the sheets I worked from last Tuesday were
almost all Republicans. One woman even asked me in a stern voice: Are you a
Republican? I did find, though, that I had one sure fire hit with my group -
widening Hwy 101. Whenever I mentioned that, people would say: You've got my
vote! Consequently, I scored more "yeses" that night than ever before. I
came away buoyed by my success and feeling good about myself.
