I can make the "Afghan Massacre" video available for showing and
discussion.
The CPT team recommends the following discussion topics in their report
after visiting Afghanistan:
http://www.prairienet.org/cpt/afghanistan.php
see their report on Afghanistan at:
http://www.prairienet.org/cpt/afghanistan_p1.html
"The three questions that we encountered in Afghanistan, which we think
congregations should spend time thinking about are:
1. What is a genuine global understanding of terrorism? "Why do you call
it terrorism when an airplane hits one of your buildings and kills
innocent people and you do not call it terrorism when American airplanes
drop bombs that kill people in their homes?" one wise old villager
leader asked us.
2. What should people who subscribe to some notion of enemy loving do
about the destruction in Afghanistan. Our Muslim friends often reminded
us that the Koran strictly teaches against the destruction of fruit
trees and the land.
3. And, What are the implications of the increased use of an air force
equipped with precision bombing capability for justice and peace in our
world? As we looked over the Khyber Pass, into Afghanistan in the
valley below a group of villagers sauntered by. One was overheard
saying. "First the Americans send their planes to destroy our houses and
then they want to come and look at them."

According to eyewitnesses, U.S. Special Forces
supervised--some say orchestrated--the systematic
murder of more than 3,000 captured Taliban soldiers in
November 2001. That charge is the centerpiece of a
documentary film, "Afghan Massacre: The Convoy of
Death,"
"There has been a cover-up by the Pentagon," says
Scottish director Jamie Doran, a former producer for
the BBC. "They're hiding behind a wall of secrecy,
hoping this story will go away--but it won't." Indeed,
"Massacre" has already been shown on German television
and to several European parliaments. The United
Nations has promised an investigation. But thanks to a
virtual media blackout, few Americans are aware that,
on the eve of another war, their nation's reputation
as a bastion of human rights is rapidly dissipating.
American Involvement in Genocide?
For the rest of the above story see:

I just watched the documentary "Afghan Massacre." I
had read about the Qala-i-Jhangi massacre last year in
Newsweek, but this video by Jamie Doran makes it clear
that American and British Special Forces were in
charge of the operation, not just innocent by
standers. Their claims of not having even witnessed
any atrocities are simply not believable. This story
will not go away. This massacre is every bit as
atrocious as My Lai was in Viet Nam
(http://www.law.umkc.edu/faculty/projects/ftrials/mylai/mylai.htm
). It appears that there is a cover-up that has been
effective in the US so far. The documentary includes
many eyewitness accounts of the killings and cover-up.
You can listen to the witnesses tell what they saw in
Farsi and read the English sub captions. There is no
doubt that these Afghans saw the American troops
present in all stages of the atrocities.
Dostum himself, with his American handlers present,
ordered the prisoners from Qala-i-Jhangi to be loaded
into container trucks, where they died of suffocation
and thirst, and delivered to Dasht-i-Leili for burial
in a mass grave. Over 3,000 Taliban prisoners that had
surrendered in Kundoz disappeared. United Nations
inspectors have visited the burial site, but Dostum
has made it clear that he cannot provide security for
investigators. Several of the eyewitnesses in the
documentary have been arrested and put to death in
Mazar-i-sharif.
With people like Dostum in the current government, he
is the Deputy Defense Minister, how can Afghanistan
ever hope to end the civil war between the various
ethnic groups and regional warlords?
With US government protecting American and British
soldiers implicated in such atrocities, how can we
claim to be purveyors of freedom and justice?
