Hello-

It's been awhile (again). Happy 7th BDay for the CRG!

Since the last update, I learned of the passing of Lorraine Coogan (#6)
and Clive Coogan (#74). Each made significant contributions to the web
site and will be greatly missed. You can read their obituaries if you
like - they are posted.

Lots of new census, city directories and vitals (lots from my trip to
Montreal, Quebec - where my Coogans once lived). I had to take a crash
course in reading 19th century French handwriting to transcribe the
vitals. Thankfully, Montreal has the most organized cemetery (online
database and numbers on the back of stones) and archives (indexed parish
registers) I have yet visited. The trip was capped off by a spectacular
light show/artistic demonstration inside Basilique Notre Dame du
Montreal (where my earliest Coogan was married in 1843).

I got to meet with Clarence Coogan (#25) a few weeks ago. We had a nice
visit - complete with cookout! We didn't really talk about genealogy
either (if you can believe it!). My wife was happy...

Everyone keep in touch!

Jim Coogan
