The results are in! Pat Connor Coogan's husband, Michael, and I are
related by blood (per the results of a Y-DNA test). This test
determines the degree of relationship through the male/paternal side.
FamilyTreeDNA.com confirmed that because we have the same surname and
can match 12 of 12 markers which determine relationship there is a 99%
probability of a relationship - and the fact that we could match 25 of
25 markers means the relationship is most likely within the last 7
generations. We had always been pretty sure of a relationship at this
level, but it is nice to "know."
There are too many updates to list - one big one is the addition of some
DNA marker data so that the rest of you can do the same kind of test, if
you like. It would be great if we could find some more connections in
this manner - just let me know.
