Excerpt: What's Your CIQ?  Steve O'Keefe
 Dec 02, 1999 13:25 PST
Since the time of the Aztecs, chocolate has been one of man's most
highly-prized foodstuffs. It is eaten in many forms, in sauces and candy
bars and cakes, by cultures all around the world. But how much do you
really know about chocolate? With their new book, "Chocolate Passion"
(John Wiley & Sons), authors Tish Boyle and Timothy Moriarty have done
their best to enlighten us all.

I have permission from the publisher to distribute an excerpt from
"Chocolate Passion" that tests your knowledge of chocolate, its history and
its properties. How knowledgeable a chocolate connoisseur are you? Do you
know who invented hot chocolate, or which civilization first cultivated the
cacao bean on plantations? Try the quiz, and see how high your C.I.Q.
("Chocolate Intelligence Quotient," that is) really is.

Also included in this excerpt is an example recipe from the book, a
delicious variation on a well-known chocolate dessert that shows just what
is possible with this fascinating, adaptable "food of the gods."

To get the excerpt, please send mailto:exce-@tenagra.com with the
subject line "Send Chocolate," and I'll reply with a text file. If you'd
like to learn more about chocolate and its history, please join us for an
Online Seminar with
author Timothy Moriarty, featuring further excerpts and recipes from his book:
