Because the release branch (0.7.X) is a much older branch than the
development version (0.8dX), but which happens to be getting a lot of
work on it in the past few weeks.
As for these two functions, coincidentally, I just put no-op version
of these functions in 0.7.3 to support the new font/text code coming
in that version. So, at least you'll compile...

Do you have a prediction on the release date for 0.7.3? (Other than the
obvious "when it's ready")
