    the previous owner had my walter v-drive rebuilt by the factory about ten years ago. cost about a thousand dollars. my understanding is that walter doesn't like anyone else touching their drives and won't sell parts to other mechanics - but that might be just a rumor.



    i pulled my heat exchanger a few years ago, opened the end, and cleaned it out myself. i've been told that the oil cooler never needs to be cleaned out but don't know how true that is. also it's nice to know that the perkins engine manual states that the oil cooler isn't really necessary and could be bypassed if it leaks...
