I've finally snapped on Kerry...the MTV interview was just another lame
attempt to be hip. I've been ranting for the last couple of days on my LJ.
I did find it interesting..Bill O"Reilly defended Kerry on the issue of
Heinz outsourcing. He pointed out that neither Kerry or his wife have any
say in Heinz business practice. So it's not all that hypocritical to
criticize outsourcing.
Not convinced I should vote for Bush yet though.
****You will be assimilated.....resistence is futile.
| | Kerry: Well, they do coexist. I mean, that's life, that's the reality of
my life. I served my country, and during the course of that service I
learned the realities of the war. And as a matter of conscience I
opposed it. And when I came back I felt that it was compelling to share
with Americans what I had learned, and that's why I protested, and
that's why I demonstrated, and that's why I spoke out. Purely as a
matter of conscience, period.

You know...he admitted he was passing on hearsay, not stuff he witnessed.
I'm inclined to agree he didn't intentionally lie-but why was he so quick to
accept the story, when he witnessed nothing like it himself?
***He has been accused of performing a few unnecessarily violent raids while
commanding his fire boat. After allt heis time who can really say. His
answer is likely to be more of a matter of convenience then truth anyway.
| | Kerry: Sure there are. Of course there are people, absolutely. I mean,
I'll tell you. Carole King, who has been out campaigning for me hard in
Iowa, New Hampshire and various places, is as knowledgeable about the
issues as anybody I have ever seen.
|
Wow...he is up on the current musicians.
****hehe.....
| | [Tape plays.] Senator Kerry, were you cool in college? And are you cool
now?
Kerry: [He laughs.] Well, if I were cool and I told you I was cool, I
wouldn't be cool. So look, I don't know what I was in college.
|
love to go ... You
| | know, I just came back from vacation. I was snowboarding. I love to fly.
I'm a pilot. I play hockey. I had a great time playing with the old-time
Boston Bruins a few months ago in New Hampshire during the campaign.
|
Wow. He IS cool.
| | Yago: Well, we know that you were into rock and roll when you were in
high school, and we know that you play the guitar now. Are there any
trends out there in music, or even in popular culture in general, that
have piqued your interest?
Kerry: Oh sure. I follow and I'm interested. I don't always like, but
I'm interested. I mean, I never was into heavy metal. I didn't really
like it.
|
I wanna see some quotes through the year to back this up. Because I can
just see the scandal erupt when it turns out he has a bunch of Metallica
CDs.
****LMAO
| | Number two, I have a plan to help students pay down loans if they would
be willing to come and do things that we think are of great value to us
but which they can't afford to do because of the loans, like go teach in
the inner city or teach in a rural community or go do child care, help
children, which is really the most important task in America. But we
don't pay very much for it. So we are going to help people pay off
student loans to do things of value.
|
What if you aren't going to college for a carreer that fits that?
***Goiod point. So the government will offer incentitives to fill the
positions they decide they need. Interesting....
| | Number three, I have a national service plan for America. I want high
school graduates who are willing to go into their communities and serve
to be able to do so, and they can help mentor young kids who are having
trouble in school, or who don't have parents at home in the afternoon,
or they could go work with seniors who are shut in. There is so much
work to be done in communities that any high school student who does
that for two years, we are going to pay for their full in-state
four-year public-college education. We are going to make national
service again something of value to our country. And I think those are
the most important things. The final thing I'm going to do, George Bush
has cut the Pell Grants, he has cut the Perkins Loans, he has cut the
Stafford [Loans]. I'm going to raise those loans back up to where they
were, and then we are going to grow them with inflation so that students
are able to keep up. There is nothing more important in America, nothing
more important to us as a country, in terms of our economy, in terms of
our democracy, than to have people be able to go to college and have
ongoing adult education.
|
Interesting ideas...something I can't really slam him for. Dammit.
***I can. How far away from compulsary service is this?
| | Number three, I'm going to close the tax loopholes that actually
encourage companies to take jobs overseas and reward them for doing so
at the expense of the American taxpayer. That's not just nonsense, it's
indefensible - it's an insult to the American worker.
|
I did hear even Republicans admit this is a problem.
****The outsourcing sure is, but part of the blame is NAFTA. I have not
heard of the tax loopholes for outsourcers. I do know companies like Boeing
trade Jobs overseas for Airplane orders..
I hope Bush consents to the MTV interview. I'd like to see that.
*** Most of the questions were fairly safe for Kerry, and most conveniently
what he wanted. Do you think Bush will get the same support?
