Earlier I posted this thread for the Katrina Relief Ride - Delaware
Route 1 on BikeJournal.com and sent this out to our state list servers.
I received an email from the organizer for the Charleston (SC) Cycle
Fest, which isn't currently listed on the BJ site, but I will add after
this posting. He has said that for anyone that raises or donates towards
this cause, they will provide a free four day entry into the CCF for
that person.
His organization is buying a 53 foot over the road trailor, which is
similiar to an 18 wheeler, and outfitting it with fast recovery hot
water heaters and 48 showers to be sent to LA next week. This will be
used by FEMA and other volunteer agencies that are down there now to
assist in the disaster relief.
I'm sure that most of us has done numerous charity rides for one
organization or another. It would be easy for each of us to raise $200
through friends and family for this wonderful cause. If the offer to
attend the CCF isn't enough to get each of you to do this, then just the
feeling that you will get knowing that you have helped the people that
have nothing left and might not have homes, be back in their homes for
months, or has lost friends and families.
In all of my travels and through BikeJournal.com, I have met a lot of
great people that really care about each other. Now is the time to come
together. I would really appreciate your help with this.
Sincerely,
Ed Ford
