Hello neighbors and Shelby Bottoms Greenway and Nature Center users,

I regretfully report that artist Erika Wollum has not been able to install
her exhibit *Investigating the Wild and the Contained* this week at the
Shelby Bottoms Nature Center due to a back injury. As a result, the exhibit
opening scheduled for this Friday evening September 11 from 6-8 p.m. at the
Nature Center has been postponed. It will be rescheduled for a date yet to
be determined, hopefully in October. We wish a speedy recovery for Erika!
Look for another posting soon for an update or become a fan to East
Nashville's own Shelby Bottoms Nature Center on Facebook or follow SBNC on
Twitter for more updates.

We're still looking forward to *Local Food and Organics Festival* on
Saturday from 10-2 though, with many exhibitors and activities for kids.
Check it out!

Hi neighbors and park users!

The Shelby Bottoms Nature Center's September and October program schedule
is attached and has many fun and interesting FREE programs for you, your
family and friends to enjoy as summer turns to fall.

A couple highlights this week:

*Investigating the Wild and the Contained: An exhibit opening by artist
Erika Wollum* - Friday, September 11 from 6-8 pm. East Nashville's own
Erika Wollum explores the tension between the civilized and the wild through
the medium of sculpture, drawing, and video.
**
*Local Food and Organics Fest* - Saturday, September 12 from 10-2 is a
great place to learn about the benefits of eating locally and organically
grown food as well as community gardens, composting, CSA's (community
supported agriculture) and more. There will be activities for the kids too!

And so much more:

Rain Barrel Workshops offered by the Cumberland River Compact, *Kilowatt
Ours*:* Save your Energy (and money!)* Educator Workshops, visits from
live wildlife ambassadors from Walden's Puddle Wildlife Rehabilitation
Center, bird hikes to enjoy fall migration with a member of Tennessee
Ornithological Society, composting and worms program for families with Metro
Beautification, naturalist led stroller hikes for parents, Stories by the
River, the Amazing Life of Bats and so much more!

...and don't forget the gorgeous fall wildflowers!!
