Updates on ECCC Summer/Fall  Joseph Kopena
 Jun 13, 2008 13:08 PDT

ECCC,

Just a brief update and exciting news on events coming up this fall.
As usual, we have an excellent schedule of mountain bike events lined up
this year. Yet another stellar cyclocross season is also starting to
come together. For the first time in modern history, we are also very
pleased to announce an ECCC track season---the only collegiate track
series in the country!

[[ Track ]]

This year's debut track season is being organized by Josh Schwartz (MIT;
jd-@mit.edu), and will feature three great race weekends:

Aug 22-24 Kissena, NYC
Aug 30-31 Valley Preferred Cycling Center, Trexlertown, PA
Sep 06-07 New England Velodrome, Londonderry, NH
Sep 11-13 Collegiate Track Nationals @ Colorado Springs

The Kissena event will be part of the NY State Championships, promoted
by the esteemed Alan Atwood. The VPCC and NEV races will be collegiate
specific weekends, possibly including some USCF categories.
There will of course be men's & women's categories, and medals for
season omnium winners. We are also hoping to offer Intro Track sessions
at T-Town and NEV, schedule permitting. More news on these exciting
developments will be put out as the events solidify.

[[ MTB ]]

Once again we have another great slate of fall MTB races on deck:

Sep 13-14 Lehigh Mountaintop Classic (Bethlehem, PA)
Sep 20-21 UNH Mountain Bike Fiesta (Kingman & Highland; Durham, NH)
Sep 27-28 Union/MIT/RPI Weekend (Holiday & Jiminy Peak; Amherst, MA)
Oct 04-05 PSU Nittany Lions Classic (Rothrock; State College, PA)
Oct 18-19 Northeastern U Easterns (Sunday River; Bethel, ME)
Oct 24-26 Collegiate MTB Nationals @ Lees McRae (Banner Elk, NC)

Notably, this year we will have achieved gravity & XC parity---all
weekends will have both gravity and cross country events. Could this be
the year gravity riders take the season overalls??? With equal points
now on offer, it's definitely possible. Our races have been reaching
new standards of quality MTB promotion, and everyone's encouraged to
give them a whirl if you haven't already.

[[ Cyclocross ]]

The increasingly high-octane ECCC cyclocross season will again be
associated with some of the best MAC and NE races in the region.
Coordinated for the third year by the ever popular Mark Vareschi
(Rutgers; m.var-@gmail.com), with new assistance from Josh Jamner
(Colby), season details are being worked out right now. Events will be
posted as soon as they're hammered out.

Now featuring four seasons and more racing than you can shake a pedal
wrench at, this stands to be another breakout year for the unstoppable
Eastern Collegiate Cycling Conference!

Thx
