Is the message about downloading new dialling software? If so, there was
an article about this yesterday (Oct 22nd) by Charles Arthur in The
Independent Review, Science & Technology section. (I haven't checked
whether the article is available on the website.) Apparently NTL is changing
the dial-up numbers for its "Freedom" service, but as the information about
downloading new dial-up software came by email from tech support lots of
people thought it was a spoof or a virus. Also the software isn't written by
NTL and is downloaded from a page that is not on the NTL website.
Apparently there's nothing on the NTL website to explain any of this.
Thank goodness I have cable...
