Nothing unique, just caught in the backwash of the dotcom collapse. I had
to love Pud's observation that dieing dotcoms have started blaming 9-11
for
their demise, rather than stupid management and clueless business plans.
Exodus made some big mistakes, but the biggest was providing
infrastructure
support in an industry that went TU. They over extended and had too many
commitments in a market that went sour.

SAN JOSE, Calif. (AP) - Burned by the dot-com blowout and costly growth,

hosting giant Exodus Communications Inc. filed for bankruptcy protection
Wednesday but said its business will continue to operate.
Santa Clara, Calif.-based Exodus, which provides services to major sites
including Yahoo! and eBay, has warned for months that it was quickly
running
out of cash and needed additional financing to stay afloat.
In addition to the Chapter 11 filing at the U.S. Bankruptcy Court in
Wilmington, Del., Exodus announced it has received a commitment for up
