Have you ever talked with someone and left the
encounter feeling as though you'd just given away the
store and been made the fool?
Well, Maureen Sharib, a professional names sourcer,
tells the recruiting community at ERE.net all about
how to gain the confidence of "gatekeepers" in order
to get them to *want* to give up the information.
First of all, she explains how to gain the
gatekeeper's confidence (notice Maureen feels the
gatekeepers are only women) as she writes
"How to Make a Gatekeeper Feel Comfortable"
(1/30/2007)
http://www.ere.net/articles/db/FE55881E8C3E450B8B0966A4A19AD8F9.asp
Maureen then teaches how to collect the information
and the various techniques involved as she writes
"Identifying Business Development Leaders" (2/28/2007)
http://www.ere.net/articles/db/23BD9B36F5E34E4597316559D81AFD3A.asp
Interestingly, Maureen has not written an ERE article
about it but a discussion post wherein a gatekeeper
appears to have read her last article. Please see
"...and I thought I was busted!" (3/14/2007)
http://www.ere.net/erenetwork/groups/posting.asp?LISTINGID={7E92F93F-E7C6-4D52-ADA6-64CC0725C256}
Knowing how it's done and what to expect should help
you maintain your sense of self integrity. Does anyone
have any ideas and practices to share that are
different from the "busted" gatekeeper or comments to
add?
