There's one job title in the recruiting industry that doesn't get a lot
of attention or discussion. It seems to indicate to me that the position
also gets very limited use when there are many ways in which the
efficiencies that would accrue from utilization would be enormous.
The position I'm talking about is that of a Researcher. Some people
think of this type of position as synonymous with Sourcer. I think of a
Sourcer as a person who looks for talent in all types of places and once
identified, they pass the contact information over to the Recruiter.
In contrast, I see a Researcher as one who can do the job of a Sourcer
but is also capable of doing quite a few other functions and still be a
source of revenue generation or cost reduction.
I'm wondering how many of you use a Researcher. I'm also wondering how
you use your Researcher and what you'd like to see them doing in
addition to their present duties.
What is the difference between a Researcher and a Sourcer to you?
