kids today don't read at any level in any language

I beg to disagree! There are kids who read today. I have grandchildren
who read and I know they are not the only ones. Ask in the libraries
that have good children's sections. And I emphasize good. Having been a
teacher-librarian in a former life, I also found that you only had to
have a story on tv or a movie of it for the kids to flock to the library
for the book. I went into a school library that had old books with small
print. For example, we had such a copy of Little Women. It was never
taken out. As soon as I got a nice edition with good print and space on
the page I had a long list of girls waiting to read it. I still have
former Australian students coming up to me and telling me of their fond
memories of the books they read from the libarary. Two of my four
grandchildren asked for specific books for Channukah. Some children
don't read on any level. Some kids have never read. Some kids learn
language like they learn everything else, by hearing it.

Etnians!
In response to the accurate comment:
BTW, The link to dictionaries (I believe from a chozer mankal?) on etni was
not useful in terms of a specific recommendation.

My hearing impaired pupils use electronic dictionaries in the classroom
every day. The information I posted on Etni is relevant to all electronic
dictionaries. I did not mention specific names because I have not conducted
official consumer researches (or whatever one does) and base my opinions on
what I see during the lessons.
Anyone who is interested in hearing my personal opinion on different brands
is welcome to write to me at:
ron-@012.net.il
It is important to remember that for different pupils different electronic
dictionaries are better. one of my pupils has an excellent one but it has
too many "buttons" for him - he needed the plainer, larger keyboard one.
And so on.

question !
Does a "nivchan mishne" student who retakes the bagrut after the army, have
to do the oral exam ?

And just to make sure, he would take the old format, right ?

thanks,

Noel

In the "Old Bagrut" the students with the "oral dispensation" have a one
hour exam instead of the three hour 4 & 5 point written exam.
Does anyone know how they will be tested on the 11/4 hour exams. (Modules C
D E F)

I was wondering if anyone can tell me where to get a copy of the bagruts
from the winter of 2003, 4points, summer 2003, all 4, summer moed bet,
2003, 4 points.

I checked in my school, I found the others, 1, 3,5 points of the winter and
the summer moed bet in 2003, but I can't find the others. And they are not
up on the ETNI site.

If there is any way to send me copies, I would gladly pay for postage.

Thank you,
Miri

Hi

I do agree that the level was higher than expected. Most pupils found it
hardand in my opinion it was good for the 6th graders rather than for the
fifth. There are also many things which we haven`t done yet. Maybe if we
weretested at the end of the year it would have been different. Tiki

I agree with every word. Does a test of this standard reflect what was
taught in the 4th Grade? I think not! I couldn't bear the looks on some of
my students faces yesterday especially those who are competitive. It's okay
to give the test in December but it's not okay to expect the students to
perform well in a test which on top of being diffucult is also badly
written
in parts.
