I feel I must join in with these voices, as they are both right and
legitimate.
Maybe it is about time for our learned Minister to try her hand at the real
thing, in the field; and only afterwards initiate the reforms and
revolutions.

thousands more teachers is going to solve the problem.

Dear Fellowship of Teachers, may I ask you only one question? How many
|
|
of
| | | | you feel that for more money they are prepared to teach more classes?
|
Maybe
| | the fact that I think that if I get one more class I'll go nuts is my
personal problem. And maybe I should make sure to be among the 15000
teachers who'll get fired and not on the other list... In the meantime
|
have
| | awonderful Hanukka vacation, and who knows maybe another miracle will
happen... Yours Vera

Subject: [etni] Bagrut in 11th grade
Hello List,
I have 2 questions:
1. Can an 11th grade student take the 3 point exam this year, and improve
his grade next year in case he doesn't do well, by retaking the exam?
2. Can that student take the 3 point exam this year and add more modules
next year in order to make it a 4 point exam?
I'd appreciate receiving answers to both of these questions, since one of my
private students was advised in school to take the 3 point exam in 11th
grade, and I feel that it won't be right for him.
Thanks!

Oh, you don't get it. They fire half the teachers and then make you teach
twice as many classes as you already do. That will certainly be effective,
right?
Bari (who is currently teaching six classes and doesn't want any more,
thanks!)

I need to know where I can find the new bulletin that talks about the winter
bagrut. I need to know which parts are taken off for LD students-LD
guidelines and mutam tests for winter 2004.
Thank you,

I am conducting research on learning disabilities and need several tests.
Perhaps you have what I am looking for. I would like to borrow, rent or buy
the following:
TOMAL, WRAML. Dyslexia Screening Test, Visual/Auditory Order Threshold,
TOVA, Connors, Stroop or their equivalents.
I hope to hear from you soon.

I just looked in the NBA handbook- it does say 8 lessons as a minimum. I
seem to remember that in one of the earlier "hozrim" it said something about
1 - 1.5 month. (But I may be mistaken, of course!). In any case, if the
project grade is equivalent to a test grade, and a test is on about 1.5
month's work, then I think the project should take about the same time.
Of course, what I understand from the irgun's latest letter (on their web
site) is that we can now do whatever we want with the projects. (I don't
think this is so good.)
I remember 4 or 5 years ago, when projects were just starting to be done in
English classes (at least as far as I knew - I wasn't an English teacher
then) my son - in grade 7 or 8 - got a wonderful project to do. But they did
it all at home, with no guidelines or feedback from the teacher until they
handed in the final project. Even then' I felt that they were missing out
on learning HOW to do a project.
The body language of "I'll call you" is really nice! I'll try to remember to
check it in my clases after the vacation!
happy hanuka!

| | Oh, and most important of all, I now know that you do not need to speak
Hebrew (or any other language) to talk to people in Israel. Among other
things, I now know how to say "I'll call you later" without saying a word.
I actually asked a bunch of students in different classes what I was
"saying" and every single one understood immediately. It goes like this:
roll your hands around each other, point to yourself, hold your hand up
|
next
| | to your face with your pinky pointing at your mouth and your thumb

pointing

you're

moving it back and forth. The Chinese only call animals that way.

Tova, these tests are usually sold to approved specialists only.

Also - the TOVA is a computer program / test. It is often given twice -
without and with Ritalin. So needs an M. D. involved inthe testing.
