Duck and Cover 2 is the 2nd iteration of 21 Grand¹s series of radical
reinterpretations of popular songs performed, reformed, and deformed by
local musicians. Unlike the interminable TV program, American Idol,
where talent is judged partly on one¹s ability to perform a relatively
faithful rendition of someone else¹s material, we aim to present
unfaithful renditions that deconstruct the song, work with it in an
unconventional way, or use it as a leaping off point to do something
more interesting. Duck and Cover 2 takes place over 2 nights, one at the
Luggage Store Gallery in San Francisco, and the other at 21 Grand.
Thursday, October 26
Luggage Store Gallery

Tonight features performances by Mary Clare Brzytwa, Travis Johns, and
Theresa Wong, Polly Moller applying principles of chance to music by
that band from Ireland, and Eric Glick Reiman prepares his Rhodes piano
for songs about obsolete forms of transportation.

Slusser Trio, the Alan Korn Projekt and The Believers.
