RE: Stroke "X" cannot be defined from strokes with the same name. The  Annie Ford

Oh second thought, Alex, I'm reading in another report by Alex Hsu and
Irene, that a "pure recursive stroke (i.e., one defined entirely in
terms of itself)" is simply a previously defined stroke attached to a
new path and then redefined. (But you are right that the new stroke
cannot be given the same name as the one it is defined from.)

For example, if you create a zig zag path and apply the Checkers 2
(Graphics folder) stroke to it, defining the zig zag path with the
Checkers 2 stroke attached is what is referred to as a "recursive
stroke." These are the strokes that Alex Hsu says "can be used to
generate fractals in a single stroke application."

The pdf file that I'm referring to can be distributed without permission
in certain situations, like in your case, so if you want this pdf file,
please write to me at a-annief(at)microsoft(dot)com.
