The Other Side of The Mountain Issues-5!!
So,I fled to Eritrea not to Egypt for
two reasons:
The first is that I knew Eritrea since
I was too young and was feeling that it
had been denied it`s rights for future
self-determination. So when I was a
journalist I had my relation with the
Eritrean People´s Liberation Front(EPLF),
not with the other parts of the Eritrean
movements and that`s simply because I am
a (secularist).The (EPLF) was working with
the same orientation. I knew the (EPLF)
since 1977 and I assisted it to gain more
exposure in a very sensitive edge of the
press exposure that had not been on the
(EPLF) side.
The second reason was that Eritrea is more
close and intimate. Some people thought
I was an Eritrean.(more details coming soon)..
Very intimate to the point that we love each
other very much. I am speaking about the people.
(Some more interesting and convincing stories
will be coming soon also).
Did I mention that I fled Khartoum to the
eastern Sudan when a coup d`etat took over
power, confiscated democracy panned my office
etc..
Well, democracy has always the finest tragedy
practices in Sudan. I would rather say Sudan
knows no democracy since what`s so called
independence.

SOS Children´s Villages in joint effort
to launch Kenya´s first child hotline
30/01/2004 - SOS Children´s Villages
and other welfare organizations hope to
launch Kenya´s first childline - a free
and confidential 24-hours telephone helpline
for children in need. Among the many problems
faced by children in the East African country,
violence is particularly becoming a growing
concern.
Violence against children is escalating in
Kenya, where an estimated one in three girls
and one in five boys suffer sexual abuse before
the age of 18. A toll-free and confidential
telephone helpline is a first step in offering
support and counselling to all Kenyan children
and youths in need. Childline Kenya is expected
to receive some 20,000 calls per month and will
initially require 30 volunteer counsellors.
Earlier this week, SOS Children´s Villages East
Africa helped host a workshop in Nairobi to
present and discuss an initial concept for the
helpline. This meeting was organized in collabo-
ration with Plan International, Plan Kenya and
Child Helpline International - a global network
of telephone hotlines for children,whose volunteer
counsellors receive over 12 million calls per year
from around the world.
