Re: Tranny Swap -equal length axles  TWFA-@aol.com

I wonder if I have confused things by not having the right words at hand.
Years ago, I had an '85 LeBaron GTS. In order to equalize the length of front
axles, there was a "mid shaft". I understand that somewhere around '87 the mid
shaft disappeared, although the mounting holes were left and it could be retro
fitted. More recently, I had a '89 turbo van. That did not have the mid shaft
arrangement. I have a '88 Lancer ES coming. Should that have the "mid shaft"
and large spline axles?

Any of the previously mentioned turbo cars will have equal length
shafts unless swapped out by owner for un-equal.

Not true- offhand I can think the 89 Turbo automatic Acclaims did not have
them nor the Caravans with autos.
