Dear FOS Forum subscribers,<br><br>
I haven't mailed an issue of the FOS Newsletter since September 2002, but
I'm very happy to announce that it is resuming regular publication.
It will have a new name, the "SPARC Open Access Newsletter",
and a new publisher, SPARC. <br><br>
Since the primary purpose of the FOS Forum was to discuss issues raised
by the newsletter, I'm also changing the name of the forum. It will
be called the SPARC Open Access Forum. SPARC will host the new
forum, just as it will publish the revived newsletter.<br><br>
All subscriptions to the FOS Forum will automatically be transferred to
the SPARC Open Access Forum. As soon as the upcoming issue of the
newsletter goes out, later today or tomorrow, the old forum will close
and future discussion should shift to the new one. Here are the key
details:<br><br>
* To subscribe, send <font face="Arial, Helvetica">any message to
<SPARC-OAForum-feed [at] arl.org>. <br>
(Remember that if you subscribed to the FOS Forum, then you're already
subscribed to the new forum.)<br><br>
</font>* To unsubscribe, s<font face="Arial, Helvetica">end any message
to <SPARC-OAForum-off [at] arl.org>. <br><br>
</font>* To post, send your message to
<font face="Arial, Helvetica"><SPARC-OAForum [at] arl.org>.
<br><br>
</font>* Past postings from the FOS Forum are still searchable and
readable at <br>
<a href="http://www.topica.com/lists/fos-forum/read" eudora="autourl">http://www.topica.com/lists/fos-forum/read</a><br><br>
* Postings from the SPARC Open Access Forum will be searchable and
readable at<br>
<a href="https://mx2.arl.org/Lists/SPARC-OAForum/List.html" eudora="autourl">https://mx2.arl.org/Lists/SPARC-OAForum/List.html</a><br><br>
For more details, see either of the following:<br><br>
* SPARC home page on the newsletter and forum<br>
<a href="http://www.arl.org/sparc/soa/index.html" eudora="autourl">http://www.arl.org/sparc/soa/index.html</a><br><br>
* My own home page on the newsletter and forum<br>
<a href="http://www.earlham.edu/~peters/fos/index.htm" eudora="autourl">http://www.earlham.edu/~peters/fos/index.htm</a><br><br>
I apologize for any inconvenience cause by this change. As you
know, I've long wanted to replace Topica as the host of the newsletter
and forum. I'm very happy with SPARC, and after the unavoidable
transition chores of updating bookmarks and address books, I think you
will be too.<br><br>
The upcoming issue of the newsletter will explain these changes more
fully.<br><br>
It shouldn't matter whether you unsubscribe from the FOS Forum.
There will be no more traffic on the list after this message, and the
archive will remain readable even by non-subscribers. But if you'd
like to unsubscribe from it, just click on the link in the footer
below.<br><br>
