FOS forum subscribers,
Yesterday's _Chronicle of Higher Education_ carried a story about the
threat to PubScience from the House Appropriations Committee and a lobbyist
organization representing commercial publishers like Elsevier. The basic
facts are in today's issue of the newsletter, but I didn't know about the
_Chronicle_ story and therefore didn't mention it. The _Chronicle_
helpfully includes a link to the House committee report explaining why it
recommends defunding PubScience.

(This file is long. Let it load at least halfway and then search for
"pubscience".)
