Interface Designer for Web Textbook Start-up Posted Oct 13
Eleven Learning, Cambridge, MA
We're launching Eleven Learning, a new college textbook publisher.
We've got big ideas that have been vetted by industry pros, and we
need an interface designer to help us build a site that is not only
clean and elegant, but also fantastically usable. (Our customers will
be reading and annotating huge amounts of text.) That's where you come
in. Your job is to:
1. Establish the overall brand and design of the site. We expect you
to be receptive to feedback from peers and customers, but we also
expect you to take ownership of the process. You're the driver.
2. Research how people read online. Advocate for the user experience.
3. Code front-end functionality using XHTML, CSS, and JavaScript.
4. Coordinate with developers to convert mockups into live components
of the site.
5. Bonus round: Design print versions (i.e., books and PDFs) of titles
to accompany the online edition.
Is that you? Great. But what's critical is that you also need to:
6. Be smart.
7. Get things done.
8. Want to change the world.
Interested? Then here's some more information about us: The team we've
assembled is experienced and ready to roll. We're putting the
finishing touches on the business plan, and we plan to raise venture
funding as soon as you come aboard.
Still interested? Please respond with your resume, availability, and
links to sites you've designed alone or as part of a team, along with
an explanation of your contribution to each.
