Hey,
I just wanted to let you know that NP's tail fur has grown back almost
completely now. The only patch that is still missing some fur is the area
where the vet took some skin/fur sample from him, but the skin there had to
heal first, so I'm confident that will be fur-covered in a little bit too. I
don't know what the problem was, but I guess it wasn't anything serious.
Oh, and the food recommended by the vet was
http://www.oxbowhay.com/Shop/showProduct.sp?PRODUCT_NO=87 . I found some at
my local pet food store (for cheaper than at the vet's), and it actually
seems like a very good food, which the gerbils also like more than the dog
food. The funny thing is, though, that basically all the ingredients listed
are stuff my gerbils were getting anyway. I also just started feeding it to
them about a month ago, so I don't think that was related to the hair loss.
Actually, NC2, NP's cagemate, has put on a lot of weight in the last month.
I'm hoping it's a delayed reaction to his no longer running in his wheel 20
hours a day, which he used to do before I switched them to a larger cage
set-up (which I did a few month ago now, before NP's hair loss), and not
related to the food, though.
Anyway, that's the update! NP seems to be completely fine!
