*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*     Welcome to Giggles & Grins!   *-*-*-*-*-*-*-*

Harley's toys are starting to take over the house. Tonight I pulled
a few of the bigger ones out of the dog's toy basket and gave them to
him to let him drag around. He likes to chew on my shoes, so I put away
the big pile that had accumulated under my computer desk (something my
mom has been trying to get me to do for a long time) and put a dog pad
and a collection of toys down there instead. Let's face it, Harley will
spend a lot of time in the computer room, he might as well have a place
all his own in here. It makes it easier to type when he's not sleeping
on my chest. I had a really hard day today. Traffic, a not-so-nice
comment from a coworker, broken programming, and new and difficult
projects coming up, not to mention a power surge that made me lose half
an hour's worth of work and a missed deadline made my day even less fun
than usual. It was good to come home to a puppy who was happy to see
me. Enjoy the Giggles!

A couple of my chemistry classmates at my high school are
particularly fashion-conscious. During a lecture one of the girls was
having trouble understanding how atoms lose and gain electrons to form
ions, yet still remain the same element.

Most people think life sucks and then you die. Not me. I beg to
differ. I think life sucks, then you get cancer, then your dog dies,
your wife leaves you, the cancer goes into remission, you get a new dog,
you get remarried, you owe ten million dollars in medical bills, but you
work hard for thirty-five years and you pay it back, and then one day
you have a massive stroke, your whole right side is paralyzed, you have
to limp along the streets and speak out of the left side of your mouth
and drool, but you go into rehabilitation and regain the power to walk
and the power to talk, and then one day you step off a curb at
Sixty-seventh Street, and bang you get hit by a city bus and then you
die. Maybe. (If you're lucky) ~~Denis Leary

                     Quick Question

   Answer to yesterday's question -
Three pounds. Did you know that your brain stopped growing a few
years after you were born?

                     Useless Trivia

What are those little half moons in your nails?

The pale half-moon shape at the base of each nail is called the
lunule. It shows where the hardening process is not yet complete.

The American Academy of Dermatology provided these nail facts:

-Nails grow about 0.1 mm (or about .004 inch) per day.
-Fingernails tend to grow a little faster than toenails.
-Toenails are approximately twice as thick as fingernails.
-In general, nails tend to grow faster in summer than they do in
winter.
-Men's nails usually grow faster than women's nails.
-Nails on your dominant hand tend to grow faster.
