*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*     Welcome to Giggles & Grins!   *-*-*-*-*-*-*-*

Have you missed me? I know some of you have been visiting my new
blog. http://www.shiles.com/blog But, many of you haven't, and I've
missed you. So, I thought I'd stop by and see how everything is going.
I've been busy. I wrote another 40,000 words on my novel, so I'm just
over 90,000 words so far. I haven't finished the story yet, but I'm
getting closer. Once I finish the first run through I will still have a
lot of rewriting to do, but at least I'm making progress, right? Harley
is getting smarter all the time. Check out my blog for the latest story
about him. (Sorry, but it's too long for here.) I am supposed to be
going to bed, but as always I'm finding better things to do than sleep.
Aren't you glad I did? Have you been watching American Idol? Maybe I'm
just getting tired of it, but this is the most boring season ever, isn't
it? Even in Season 3 I could amuse myself by hating Fantasia. This
year, they are all so bland that I just can't care about any of them.
Well, Chris Sligh is cool, but not interesting enough by himself to make
up for the rest of the blandness. Where is this year's Taylor Hicks and
when are we EVER going to get another Clay??? Enjoy the Giggles!

On shaving cream it now says, "Warning: Keep away from open flame."
You know what that means. Sometime in the past, some nut has said to
his weife, "Honey, I think I'll sit in the fireplace to shave."

Amusing Facts - http://www.amusingfacts.com/
There are facts here, not sure how amusing they are...

Clay Aiken - http://www.clayaiken.com/
Even Clay has been letting me down lately. Where are the tour dates?
When will he release a record with new material?? Obviously I need a
life.

At the Sharper Image store I saw a body fat analyzer. Didn't that
used to be called a mirror?

around an hour later, it's all screwed up and I can't get it to look

At the Texas State Fair, they're serving batter-dipped, deep-fried
Oreos. This is for people who don't have time to eat their fries and
cookies separately. They only way these could kill you faster is if you
put them in a cannon and shot them directly into your chest.

                 Fun Fact of the Day

A survey done by Clairol 10 years ago came up with 46% of men stating
that it was okay to color their hair. Now 66% of men admit to coloring
their hair.

                     Useless Trivia

English doesn't have to be read or written from left to right. It
just is.

Many other languages, among them Chinese, Arabic, and Hebrew, are
written right to left or even bottom to top. Why, then, is English left
to right?

Well, the best explanation is that the ancient Greeks said so.

Seriously, the scholars of ancient Greece experimented with the
various methods of putting words on tablets and such and then reading
those words. The Greeks decided that going from left to right was the
easiest thing to do, the one that made the most sense. So that's what
they did. And when the Romans conquered the Greeks, they kept this
practice, applying it to Latin.

Most Western languages have their roots in Greek and Latin, so that's
why most of those Western languages have words and sentences that
progress from left to right.
