I was introduced to Susan V. Bosak, a Best Selling Author and
Intergenerational Researcher, a few years back. A very nice lady working
at improving the relationships between Grandparents and their
Grandchildren.

Susan is now the national chairperson for a new national project,
under the Parenting Coalition and Generations United, both national
nonprofit organizations based in Washington, DC is being launched that
includes free online activity kits and contests to help bring the
generations in families closer together. http://www.tcpnow.com/

In a recent email they asked me to pass on to you the following
information along with the link to their site:

BRING THE GENERATIONS IN YOUR FAMILY CLOSER

Would you like practical ideas and fun activities to bring the
generations in your family closer -- even over long distances? The
Parenting Coalition and Generations United (both based in Washington,
DC) are launching a new national project. Intergenerational researcher
and bestselling author, Susan V. Bosak, MA, is National Chair of the
"Something to Remember Me By" Legacy Project. Its goals include building
closer relationships between grandparents, parents, and children and
celebrating the important legacies passed down across generations. The
project offers free online activity kits
and contests.

"Grandparents are VIPs. The whole idea of the Legacy Project is to
celebrate grandparents and let them know that they can and are making a
difference in their grandchildren's lives," says Bosak, who runs
workshops with families across the country.

The "Something to Remember Me By" Legacy Project website
www.somethingtoremembermeby.org offers intergenerational activities for
families, schools, and community groups. There's a new Family Fun Pack
of activities -- with great activities like Generations Scrapbook,
Memory Jar, Hand Full of Love, Photo Card Games, and more -- and a
complete Grandparents Day Activity Kit for planning a school or
community event at any time of the year.

There's also an Intergenerational Contest that runs until October 26,
2001. The Grand Prize is a Lane Cedar Chest with an IBM NetVista
Computer inside. There are also ten runner-up prizes of a $75 book gift
certificate from the Chinaberry family book catalog. Children 10-18
years can enter with their grandparent (or a "grandfriend" or other
older adult mentor) 50 years or older. Each intergenerational team must
work together to write an original, creative essay or acrostic poem
around the contest theme "Linking Past & Future." Entries must be 300
words or less. Suggested topics include a
special family tradition, story, or life lesson passed down from old to
young. For all the contest details and to submit your entry, visit:
