PROJECT SUMMARY:
-- On the 22nd September of this year all the children in the world
will 'Wrap the World' in 24 hours of song.
At 09.00 all children in every school, in every country, in each of the
24 Time Zones around the world is invited to gather in their classroom
or assembly hall sing for one hour. At the end of their hour it will be
09.00 in the next Time Zone. And so on ...right around the world.
This simple idea can grow to promote global awareness on a truly
worldwide scale for absolutely no expenditure of extra time or
resources. It is purely an awareness issue tied in with an everyday
school assembly.

Listen World, 'cause your kids are singing"
Check out the website www.220909.com now to find your neighbouring Time
Zones and reach out to a school there to 'pass on the baton of song'.

FULL PROJECT DESCRIPTION:

child? Then this 22.09.09 project belongs to you.
Q.What is 22.09.09 and how will you be involved?
On the 22nd September of this year all the children in the world will
wrap the world in 24 hours of song.
If you are a child, are related to a child or teach a child you will be
part of this.
Q. How will children wrap the world in 24 hours of song?
At 09.00 all children in every school, in every country in each of the
25 Time Zones around the world will gather in their own assembly areas
and sing their own happy songs for one hour.
That?s all there is to it!
That?s all we have to do ? remember the day, the time and sing
together.
Q. Why?
For fun! And to make us aware that the sun is rising on other people too
at the same time from north to south and they are starting their day
just like we are ? with a song.
Q. How will this 'Wrap the World' in song?
The children in Time Zone 1, (that is GMT +12 or UTC +12) includes Fiji
and New Zealand. At 9am (09.00 hrs) they will begin an hour of singing,
at the end of which the children in the next Time Zone will have started
their singing, it being 9am where they are.
Simple! Right around the world. For one whole day.
Q.But why 22/09/09?
The 22nd September is the time of the Equinox, when day and night are of
equal length on either side of the world, the Autumnal Equinox in the
Northern hemisphere and Spring Equinox in the South.
It is also the very next day after the International Day of Peace:
there?s a whole
new year to look forward to. And what better way to begin it than to
have a new way of looking at our world and our place in it. We are all
Children of our Time Zone.
"Hey World The Children Are Singing" has been written for the occasion
and is to be accessed through Youtube or the main 220909 site. Songs in
a variety of languages will be made available for downloading too. The
choice of songs or indeed musical activity is entirely up to the
schools/teachers/children.
Teachers may also download (and upload) material related to the science
and geography curricula in order to help children understand the concept
of Time Zones.
There is absolutely no outlay for this project - it is just an ordinary
singing assembly but with an AWARENESS of other children round the
world.
The challenge lies in contacting others in schools in every country in
the world! Everyone involved is encouraged to contact others.
" Are you joining us on 22.09.09?" should be heard all over the planet
for the next 10 weeks. If people can see the potential this has for a
new Whole World outlook then it should be easy to spread by all means
electronic and otherwise to the furthest corners of our earth in the
next 10 weeks. If 'flu can do it, so can we!
OBJECTIVES:

awareness that we are united under the sun, irrespective of continent,
nation, race, or creed.
. children will learn about the countries that share their Time Zone and
will relate to them in a positive way.
. this will become an annual event, always the day after the
International Peace Day, at the Equinox.
. the number of schools aware and involved will grow yearly till we can
say that literally all the world's Children Are Singing.
.this will impact on the adults of today as well as the adults of the
future.
