RE: Hello!  Marion

Hi Charlie! Yes, I love effects! We use a Korg ToneWorks, which is a bit
cheaper than the POD and it also has big foot-switches that can easily
be used, which is very handy when performing life!

My view is that, when performing life, it's important to get the right
feeling and an effects pedal does so much in that respect.

When recording, one can argue that it makes more sense to put the sound
straight into the computer, in order to do any editing on the computer.
That not only gives the highest quality, it also allows you to change
things, try things out, fall back to the original sound to try something
else, until you've got what you like most.

Nevertheless, even when recording, it sometimes is very important to get
the right mood. Especially when you're improvising a solo, you can be
stimulated so much if you hear yourself do something well. An
impressive effect can put you over the edge, to make you outperform
yourself and record that solo that will never be repeated again! Yes,
some of the best guitar solos have been recorded using a small study amp
with heaps of distortion.

Love to hear more from others!

Marion.

Hey - my name is Charlie, and I'll start a discussion-

Let's talk about the state of equipment for guitarists these days;
specifically sound processing devices. I have been playing for more
years
than I care to mention, and own some very expensive tube amps which I
dearly
love. I'm also AMAZED at the quality of tones I'm getting direct out of
my
POD and GT-5 (the amp sims of the POD are far superior, but the GT-5 is
an
effects smorgasbord). When recording I find myself going to the POD
more
and more...   anyone care to comment??
