bowed back guitar  Dave

Jay Turser Guitars has a model that has a "bowed back". By this I take
it that the guitar body is thicker in the middle under the sound hole
than at either end or side. I guess it's somewhat like the back of a
base fiddle or a cello or a violin.

Does anyone know why they'd produce a guitar in that shape as opposed to
the more common flat back?
