Undocumented Fileman API ?

Does anyone know of a Fileman API (most likely undocumented) that would
allow one to wrangle a list in ^TMP into a selection list (like you get
when you do a ^DIC call and type a ??)? The goal is to re-use the same
API over and over and make the calling routine sort out the records
(including using something other than ^DIC to show the list of
selectable records to the user). Thanks in advance.
