Thank you for your calls to Senator Snowe and Senator Collins.
The Baucus Amendment just passed with a vote of 53-43! Eight Republicans, Senators Chafee, Specter, Collins, Snowe, Bond, Coleman, Smith and Dewine, joined nearly all of the Democrats present to put this amendment well over the top.
This major success would not have happened without your tireless efforts. Not only were you able to draw a strong Republican voting block for what was perceived by some to be a "Democratic amendment", but you were able to unite Democratic Senators in a vote to maintain critical entitlement programs such as Medicaid and the EITC. This level of senatorial commitment will be a key factor in the quest to keep entitlement programs whole as the House and Senate move to conference their respective budget resolutions.
