Society of Teachers of Family Medicine Group on Health Policy and Access: Health policy significantly impacts access to care, especially in the United States where over 44 million are uninsured, with a growing underinsured population, and access problems for many with insurance. This new group will identify health policy and access issues that are of greatest concern and interest to the family medicine academic community, represented by STFM. Our objectives include: 1. To develop curricula and teaching materials for medical students, residents and faculty, 2. identify areas of health policy research for family medicine researchers, 3. identify and suggest plenary speakers for STFM conferences 4. organize presentations, seminars, workshops, and theme days at STFM meetings, and 5. help guide the organization's voice in areas of public policy as STFM works collaboratively with other members of the family medicine community, other organizations of health professionals, consumers concerned with these issues, and policy makers, including representatives of federal, state and local government (including funders of both services and research). Please note that all emails on this listserv reflect the opinions of the members of the group and have not been reviewed or endorsed by the STFM Board of Directors. |
