Newsletter. This newsletter will be used to inform you about the USS
Horne 2009 Reunion Cruise. Feel free to snail-mail or email this

1: Overview
The USS Horne 2009 Reunion will be held onboard the 855 foot Carnival
Elation. According to the Carnival Website:
True to its name, you'll feel your spirits soar as soon as you board the
Carnival Elation. Relax in the sun on the teak-planked decks, or plunge
into any of the three refreshing swimming pools. Make your way to any of
the eateries for a delicious meal. Or, roll up your sleeves and try your
luck in the friendly casino before turning your attention to the
exciting nightlife.

Engineers may be interested to know the Carnival Elation is the first
passenger vessel in the world built with the revolutionary Azipod
propulsion system. It looks like it will be a fantastic setting for the
next Horne Reunion. WE WANT YOU TO BE THERE! If you have any questions,

2: Itinerary
The USS Horne 2009 Reunion Cruise will depart San Diego on Thursday
March 26, 2009 at 1600. We spend a day at sea on Friday March 27th and
arrive at Cabo San Lucas, Mexico at 8am on Saturday March 28th. We begin
our return trip Saturday afternoon at 1600 and spend another full day at
sea on Sunday March 29th. We return to San Diego at 8am on Monday March
30, 2009.
Thursday March 26th 2009 - Depart San Diego 1600
Friday March 27th - Fun Day at Sea
Saturday March 28th - Cabo San Lucas, Mexico 0800-1600
Sunday March 29th - Fun Day at Sea
Monday March 30th - Arrive San Diego 0800
Details regarding attire, specific reunion functions, speakers etc are
still being worked out but as more information becomes available it will
be published on the USSHorne.net Website and distributed via this
Newsletter.

3: Pricing

Carnival is currently quoting us the following prices. All prices are
PER PERSON and based on double occupancy. Prices include meals but do
not include fees, taxes or gratuity. See a breakdown of fees below:
Inside Cabin: $379 + Fees
Ocean View Cabin: $429 + Fees
Junior Suite: $779 + Fees
Penthouse Suite: $879 + Fees
Fees (per person):
Customs Fees $1.93
Fuel Supplement: $20.00
Government Fees: $42.97
Immigration Tax: $3.00
Intl. Dep. Cruise Only Tax: $3.00
Total Fees & Taxes per person: $71.00
Note: Those requiring air-travel to San Diego are encouraged to contact
Carnival as they may be able to provide discounted airfare.

THE MAIN PURPOSE of this initial Newsletter is to gauge interest in the
Reunion. With over 1,000 former crew members now listed on the Decklog
we anticipate a good turnout and need to determine how many rooms to set
aside at the above prices for Horne Reunion Attendees. We are not yet
taking reservations... but if you are interested in and think you may be
able to attend the 2009 USS Horne Reunion, please email me and let me
know. We do not require a deposit at this time... we are just trying to
determine how many cabins to reserve at these prices. Once this initial
block of rooms is booked additional rooms may still be available but the
prices above will not be guaranteed. Since the reunion is 1 year away
the prices will almost certainly increase. So if you are interested in
and think you will be able to attend the 2009 Reunion Cruise please
email me and let me know ASAP!
