CYCLIST BREAKS LEG
A 50-year-old man suffered a broken leg yesterday morning when the bicycle he was riding collided with a car at Stephen and Cowdy streets.
The man was taken to hospital by ambulance and Stephen Street between Cowdy and Montreal streets was blocked for several hours.
"It's still under investigation at this point whether there was a traffic violation of the stop sign by the cyclist," Const. Trent Thrasher, said at the scene.
Thrasher said the compact SUV, a Hyundai Santa Fe, was driven by a woman in her 30s.
"The driver of the Santa Fe was shaken up," he said, standing near the crumpled bicycle, still lying on the road. The Santa Fe was stopped a few metres away, just east of the Cowdy Street intersection.
A forensic identification officer took measurements and photographed the crash scene.
The collision was among a slew investigated by Kingston Police yesterday, although it does not appear anyone was seriously hurt in any of the crashes.
