+++ WWE HIRES LILIAN'S REPLACEMENT; BOY DID THEY MAKE AN UPGRADE! WWE
has hired Lauren Mayhew as the new female ring announcer who speaks
spanish and will sing the national anthem whenever and whereever they
choose. It appears likely she is headed to be the ring announcer of the
Smackdown brand and that means Justin Roberts/Howard Finkel will be the
lead ring announcer's for the RAW brand. Mayhew has appeared in MANY
MANY television shows and has even starred in Hollywood feature films.
On the surface it certainly APPEARS she has taken a step down to accept
this type of a position with World Wrestling Entertainment. I mean,
seriously go from being the feature lead in a motion picture to ring
announcing in some small town for World Wrestling Entertainment? How
does that make any logical sense? It doesn't! Unless she is being paid a
healthy chunk of change and or was offered a movie package with WWE
Films as part of the deal to bring her on board with WWE, or maybe she
is just another one of those long time WWE fans that decided to they
simply wanted the job with WWE (Freddy Prinze Jr., etc).
Either way she has hosted talk shows, conducted interviews with
musicians for major networks, toured with Britney Spears as part of a
pop rock band that opened for Spears (she has music CD's in the works
and concert appearances scheduled and is also a successful musician to
boot). She has an MTV series "Private High Musical" coming out in 2010,
which is a vehicle being produced by Ashton Kutcher (it is an animated
series and she plays the voice of Britney). Her music (which she writes
herself) has been featured on MTV's "The Hills" and also in "Frat Party"
(movie due out that she stars in). Lauren began her acting career on
"Guiding Light" playing Marah Lewis for two years and gained more fame
and noteriety as the front woman for PYT (pop quartet band).
She was eventually signed to her first music contract at age 13 by Epic
Records and she began touring the circuit with N Snyc, Destiny's Child,
98 Degreees and Britney Spears. As her music career and touring schedule
took her away from acting she stopped acting altogether but appeared in
video's with Mandy Moore and Faith Hill. Her greatest claim to fame
music wise was when she was asked to perform alongside Britney Spears,
Sting and Aerosmith at Super Bowl XXXV in front of 80,000 fans.
When Lauren made the decision to opt out of PYT and move to Hollywood to
pursue her acting career again she scored big in New Line Cinema's
"Raise Your Voice" playing opposite Hillary Duff. She played a heel in
that film and it allowed her to be seen in a totally new light.
Universal Pictures caught her new persona in the film and liked it so
much they cast her in American Pie: Band Camp at "Arriana" (a snob that
had a mean streak in her). She has appeared in numerous tv series like
CSI, CSI Miamia, Law & Order, Joan of Arcadia, Medical Investigators,
American Dreams among others while at the same time attending college at
UCLA. She graduated from UCLA with honors and has a new film "Frat
Party" coming out soon through Overture Pictures. It is due to be
released on November 1st and now that she has inked on the dotted line
with WWE, expect them to cross promote that film quite a bit.
Does it make sense that she is now with WWE? To me it honestly doesn't.
Someone shake me, wake me up and slap me around and explain this one to
me. GOOD job on the person in WWE that got this hiring done and they
deserve a raise because quite frankly WWE being connected to someone
with these credentials is a GOOD thing PR wise. No one can say a
negative thing about this hiring because the more projects she is
connected with outside of WWE (Mainstream Hollywood, etc) the more WWE
gets put over at the same time.
+++ SMACKDOWN SPOILERS. Danny Hodge was in attendance and that pretty
much means at some point JR slobberknocked all over him. Not a bad thing
to have happen though and it would be the classy move to make. I hope
they acknowledge him on camera.
Lauren Mayhew debuted and was introduced as the newest member of the
announce team and she sang the national anthem, again the classy move
would be for them to include this on television and put her over as the
legit megastar that she is.
Cm Punk then cut a promo and that led to Undertaker coming out with his
army of druids. Long was in a coffin and then announced UT v. Punk in
Hell in the Cell for the title.
John Morrison & Finlay beat Mike Knox & Dolph Ziggler.
Kane beat Slam Master J, so his push lasted how many weeks? They showed
J spraying graffiti in Long's office so he got punishe by Teddy. Teddy
is a heel now if he uses Kane to punish people.
Batista beat Big Show by dq when Jericho got involved. Batista said Rey
Misterio would be his choice of partners to challenge for the belts, hey
a team that actually could win.
Vince McMahon did a promo putting over the tenth year anniversary show.
DH Smith beat JTG.
Ron Killings attacked Drew McIntyre and they brawled.
Cm Punk beat Undertaker by count out and then UT left Punk laying to end
the show.
During the show there was a series of promo's between Vince including Cm
Punk that indicated he may have actually been the one behind the
Montreal finish and not Long. This would be good only from a strict
storyline perspective because it allows for them to arrange for another
thing to happen at the next PPV. Remember when they had Kane tear the
door off the cage to get at UT during a title match against Austin (I
think it was Austin anyways). Can you see that all over again with them
introducing Festus with a new gimmick, maybe under a hood? That'd work
big time.
+++ HOGAN'S HERO'S! Jon Heidenreich - yeah he still exists, King V - Big
Daddy V, Koa Marie Gabric - former female diva contestant, Stephanie
Pietz - non talent model, Orlando Jordan, Ken Anderson (Kennedy),
Godfather, Sean Morley (Val Venis), Shannon Moore and Black Pearl have
all signed on to tour with Hogan.
+++ LINDA'S MOVE HAS CAUSED? As I figured the move by Linda from CEO to
active politican seeking U.S. Senate has caused WWE to shift Vince
McMahon's duties away from creative and more towards the day to day
operations of the company and that means that creative is being handled
more by Stephanie & Paul Levesque, which isn't a bad thing at all.
+++ ECW THOUGHTS. Boy is the Abraham Washington show lame or what? Is
Tony Atlas making enough money to simply laugh each week? So they make
fun of Sheamus and his heritage and red hair already? And they wonder
why the fans don't take their heels seriously? Whatever. Waste of tv
time.
Yoshi Tatsu had an awesome showing against Paul Burchill and he has a
ton of potential.
They tried their best to build up Zack Ryder to take on Christian but
the way he is dressed just screams of desparation.
Kaie Lea Burchill, she's hot! confronted Gregory Helms and then Paul
came in and clobbered him and told Katie to stay away from him. I wonder
if maybe they won't do a romance angle where Katie falls for Gregory.
They did another of those squash matches with Eziekiel Jackson &
Vladimir Kozlov and it worked again. These two are headed up.
William Regal confronted Goldust about their match on Superstars and
also about how he deserved to be ECW Champion. Regal is gold on the mic
as always.
Christian beat Zack Ryder in a strong tv title defense. Ryder just
needs a new name and gimmick.
Regal out with a post match promo and attacking Christian to be run off
by Christian was awesome as well.
