+++ DRESS CODE VIOLATION LEADS TO END OF PUNK'S REIGN? The RUMOR going
around last night (which I did not report for various reasons in the
issue last night, even though I had heard it before I sent out the
newsletter) was the reason Cm Punk's title reign was cut short by
Undertaker was because he got in to a verbal sparring sesssion with
Undertaker on a recent tour about not "dressing the part" as Champion
and was told point blank that he needed to start dressing as a Champion
on the road and for public appearances. The story got better as the
RUMORED response by Punk was "what about John Cena?" since Cena doesn't
dress up while on tour on the road or for public appearances and no one
says 'boo' to him about it. The RUMOR then said the front office was
not happy upon hearing this response and wanted to sent a message to
Punk that he wasn't close to being as big of a star as Cena and that was
why the title was taken off of him. Now my initial thoughts on this
was, hmm... maybe that makes a bit of sense because there is no way they
should have given the belt to Undertaker and taken it off Cm Punk so
something had to be too the story.
But the more I thought about it, there was NO WAY Punk was leaving the
Cell with the title in a Hell in a Cell match with The Undertaker after
'screwing him' on the prior PPV. Undertaker was not doing the job a
second time on the second PPV against Punk and it just seems to me that
on a slow news day that rumor sounds mighty interesting. Even JR
acknowledged the RUMOR in his blog and indicated it was mind numbing to
even consider that as a possibility thus indicating it isn't close to
the truth. What is mind boggling is why they give the belt to a guy
that is not going to be working on the road full time and or working a
full schedule on tv either as opposed to keeping the belt on Punk.
Remember this is the same company that put the title on Batista when
they knew he was injured and nobody could figure out the logic behind
that one either but in the end it worked out. I'd assume that
Undertaker is a transition and he got the stap to give it to Big Dave or
someone else they want carrying the brand and that Punk will feud with
the new champion down the road.
+++ JODY HAMILTON V. WWE. Judge Walter E. Johnson dismissed quite a bit
of Jody Hamilton's lawsuit against WWE. Hmilton can still pursue his
breath of contract lawsuit. But the Judge ruled WWE did not interfere
with Deep South Wrestling's contract or relationship with its talent.
Also dismissed were Hamilton's claims that he was itentionally played
with by WWE and a victim of emotional stress. The issue at hand now is
whether or not WWE gave the proper notice to Hamilton that DSW was no
longer affiliated with them or if they didn't (90 days notice was in the
contract and Hamilton disputes they gave him 3 months warning).
+++ RAW REPORT AND THOUGHTS. Big Ben is out and books the Diva Bowl.
Most of the diva's from all three brands participated wearing football
gear. Mickie James pinned Alicia Fox so the babyface diva's won the
match. This was one of those matches where they had the sequence where
the women were doing their big moves to each other to lead to the
finish. Nothing special because it was a cluster deal with to many women
involved. The guest ref was Gail Kim and she had a yellow flag to
penalize the women.
Randy Orton comes out for a promo and put over the fact that he beat
John Cena with out taking short cuts or doing anything illegal and then
mentioned how he knew Cena was going to come out and demand a rematch.
This wound up with Cena requesting a rematch and Orton saying not
tonight and on his terms. Cena wanted an iron man match and Orton
agreed providing it was no dq, no count out, anything goes and if Cena
lost he was off of RAW for good but could go to ECW or Smackdown. Cena
agreed. I hope Orton wins because Cena on another brand makes more sense
then giving him the title again.
Jack Swagger promo about how he is a winner and smells like one and
wasn't beat at the PPV last night and he will not lose again the rest of
the year.
Swagger beat Primo and is 1 and 0.
All the women are arguing in the back and about to brawl when Satino
comes in dressed up as ref and tries to calm them down. He tells Rosa
and Mickie to kiss and make up and to do it slowly in front of him. Rosa
has a better idea and slaps him. He throws a yellow flag and runs off as
the women start to brawl.
Big Ben skit with Miz wants a US Title rematch and Ben agrees with one
condition if Miz loses he has to say he is the Miz and he is AWFUL.
MVP & Mark Henry beat Chavo Guerrero & Chris Masters. Masters was not
happy after the match and put Chavo in the Masterlock but Hornswoggle
made the save. Chavo hit a DDT on Masters and then HS did the DX crotch
chop at Chavo.
Skit where Big Show & Chris Jericho confront Big Ben and he brings his
offensive line out for back up and then DX comes out and DX v. Show &
Jericho is booked as the main event.
Miz beat Kofi Kingston to win the US Title. FINALLY. FINALLY. FINALLY
THE MIZ has won gold. Think of this, Miz has the US Title, Morrison as
the IC Title. They used to be the best tag team in the world. There's a
story there WWE, USE IT!! Miz got the mic and told us he was awesome.
Skit with HS & Big Ben. Santino comes in and is upset at what the
diva's did to him. Pure comedy skit based around Santina getting Ben's
last name wrong. HS slaps Santino and then he says the name right and
that's the skit. Story here was Jericho tried to get counted out
intentionally but Big Ben and the offensice line stopped him from
leaving ringside and DX took him back to the ring and beat him. Looks
like DX graduates from the Legacy feud to work Big Show & Jericho at
bragging rights and it makes sense because HHH & HBK winning those
titles means good news for all three brands as well. I think giving
those belts to DX is a good idea,
+++ SPORTSCENTER. WWE did get exposed on Sportscenter due to Big Ben
working the show and that was one of the reasons they wanted him as a
guest host.
+++ ECW TONIGHT AT 10PM ON SYFY. Christian defends the ECW Title against
someone picked by the returning Tiffany.
