Vic, call Linn and speak with the East Coast Rep. I bet he would help out if you told them him they might loose a customer to this.

Yes I agree that time is money and a reasonable fee for the upgrade is
acceptable. However, I have purchased Linn gear from this local guy in
the past, so technically I am a customer of his. Actually purchased my
first Linn kit from him...Majik, Mimik, LK100, Keilidh, cables, etc.
However, I have to agree with Barend...$400USD is a bit on the greedy
side. Needless to say he has lost a customer.

On the other hand, the time he is spending on you (I don't know how far

round-trip is to you to do the upgrade), and the time of the actual

involved both take away from him selling new gear and acquiring new
customers.
Personally I would upgrade your gear for free just to build up the "good
will" but his numbers might tell him differently.
Just trying to see both sides of this debate...

Hi Howard, That is probably the case. Unfortunate for me since I no
longer live near the original dealer. I am located in Westchester
County, NY.
What actually turned me off a bit is that I have purchase Linn gear from
the local Linn guy, just not the Unidisk, and I believe that $400 is a
bit much for the work involved.
