I think it was a matter of having your head and eyes pointed in one
direction while "seeing" and moving in another. You could have just as
well been riding a camera bike. (I'm just guessing what that would be
like.) We didn't ride bikes while wearing them, we just played around
with them while sitting in the infield. You had lean way back with your
hands on the ground and walk crab-style.

As an optometrist, I'm kinda intrigued by this post. The prisms would likely be
just like 45 degree angle mirrors, and there wouldn't be any adaptation at all
(at least visually). Field of view might be narrowed, but for the racetrack that
shouldn't be a problem. I wouldn't use these on the street though!

Paul Gracey brought a pair of these to the HPV races at the Encino
Velodrome last October. Talk about disorienting!!
Probably just takes practice. If the Slovenian guys can ride backwards
using a mirror, getting used to these should be a piece of cake.
